How To Prevent The Risk Of Heart Attacks?

Updated: Jan 5, 2022

Heart attack is becoming more common in young people than it was back then 10 to 15 years ago. With the increase of stress and the use of unwanted substances in the hope to manage those stress, the risk of heart attacks have increased. One of the most important reasons behind the increased risk of heart attack can be the increased prevalence of smoking among young people. The second reason can be the high mental stress that most young professionals are going through these days. And the third factor can be due to the decrease in physical activities and following a sedentary lifestyle.

To prevent the risk of heart attacks we need to keep certain things in mind. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol then take control of it by maintaining a proper diet and consulting a doctor on a regular basis. And if you are healthy and don’t have such a disease, try doing physical activities regularly for 30 to 40 minutes at least 5 days a week. You can try cardio exercises like running, swimming, cycling, stair climbing, etc as they are good for your heart. When it comes to heart health, lifting heavyweight doesn't work well for your heart health. Try using light weights. Lifting excess weight may help to develop muscles but it puts extra pressure on your heart.

In order to manage stress take a break from any kind of situation that is putting you under stress, be it your work. Spend time with family and friends. Practice taking deep and long breaths, engage yourself in activities that you love doing.

Try quitting smoking completely. As doctors say that even smoking in moderation doesn't help and you may develop the chance of getting a heart attack even if you smoke a cigarette per day.

Take good care of your mental health, if needed take the help of a therapist. Eat a healthy diet, add 200 to 250 grams of fruits and raw vegetables every day to your diet. Avoid empty sugar such as soft drinks and decrease the amount of salt intake.

Taking care can reduce the risk of a heart attack.
